The United Nations' Sustainable Development goals do have a goal dubbed "Life Below Water " . This goal is essential and pivotal to the life of the world . In fact , the ocean covers about seventy five percent of the Earth's surface . The ocean invariably contains about two thousand species . These species are salient to the life of all humans . Without any iota of doubt , human dependency on Oceania life can never be underestimated . Around the world , most people engage in aquaculture, that is , the cultivation of species in the ocean .
